Kobundo, our Japanese partner  organized its yearly printing show on January 20 and 21 at Fukiage Hall in Nagoya.

Having reached its 48th edition already, this show is the biggest printing event in the middle Japan area.

Xeikon UK Event 20/21st October 2011

The two days were an overall success with Patrick Van Baelen , Danny Mertens and guest speaker Marc Verheyen talking about the Xeikon and its capabilities.   After which guests were invited to join Xeikon staff for an informal evening meal, a few drinks and a few stories about their Xeikon’s , all of which was most enjoyable.

Forum 2011 de l’impression numérique de livres

 

Comme depuis 4 ans, InterQuest nous a donné rendez-vous Mercredi 21 Septembre 2011 à Paris au Pavillon Dauphine pour aborder le thème de « l’impression numérique de livres ».

De très nombreux éditeurs, diffuseurs, imprimeurs numériques et imprimeurs offset traditionnels étaient présents pour ce moment de partage et d’échange autour du livre, qu’il soit numérique ou imprimé. Sans oublier ceux qui permettent d’imprimer ces fameux ouvrages : les constructeurs de presses numériques dont Xeikon faisait partie en tant que partenaire de l’organisation.

Old school digital bookprinting

 

Way back, in 1998 :-) , somebody came up with the idea to print a limited edition of a new book numbered and personalized to be distributed during its introduction to the press. The book we’re talking about is a child’s novel called “De Koningste Koning” by Gregie De Maeyer and cartoonist and illustrator Karl Meersman . It’s a story about all kings and queens invited to a party and struggling to sit on the ultimate throne.

100 pieces were printed using an Agfa Chromapress (similar to the Xeikon DCP series) because it was the only digital machine on earth that could print “considerably close enough to offset”-quality, according to the traditional printers at the time.

It happens in our back garden – Labelexpo 2011

In our business we travel the world attending the major exhibitions. From Chicago, to Shanghai, Sao Paulo to India, Birmingham to Dusseldorf . . . and then Brussels. On average 25,000 people, THE largest label show in the world, gathering from around the globe and all in Brussels. It is a surprise and it illustrates, I think, that the label market is different from other printing industries. A smaller community, more personal, and a real mixture of people from around the world.
